I GET AS MUCH SATISFACTION AND ENJOYMENT FROM PHOTOGRAPHY AS I DO STEPPING ON STAGE…”

ABOUT

“THE WHY… It’s what it’s always been: a Middle American “cowboy” perspective. That Western slanted ethos has its inherent, unique twist. I applied it to music and over the years achieved a humble degree of success. So, what compels me to follow it, camera in tow into the realm of photography ? I get that same feeling working to capture a picture that I get when I step up to a microphone or sit down to write a song.  The rush, the payoff, comes from the act of witnessing the unknown transform into a gratifying end result. I want to take memorable photographs. I want to see things.  I have a fair understanding of the discipline, time, effort and mechanics required to master a craft. Do I have what it takes ? Do I have the time ? Time itself will tell. The process is that simple and every bit as complicated. I don’t want to overthink it. My mandate is to enjoy the process. Music has afforded me the opportunity to meet and befriend masters of the craft. My goal with Lensmen Project is to involve and share the journey with friends along the way.” -RD

Dunn has teamed up with longtime Sports Illustrated and travel/outdoor photographer, Ronald C. Modra, to hit breathtaking bucket list photo stops such as Death Valley National Park, Alaska, and the Galapagos Islands, to name just a few, for upcoming Lensmen Projects. Modra says Dunn is pursuing his camera work with the same degree of passion as he’s always put into his music. “He’s starting to develop a style all his own,” says Modra. “He’s hungry to learn; his growth in the last few years as a photographer has been amazing.”

And there’s always the music.

Beyond the ACM Song of the Year and CMA Single of the Year for “Believe,” the sold-out concert tours – four Entertainer of the Year Awards– Dunn has achieved 22 million radio airplays and 26 #1 hits, Brooks and Dunn ignited a roadhouse revolution. The three-time CMA Triple Play Award-winner and two-time BMI Songwriter of the Year who carved out  country music classic #1s… “Brand New Man”, “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”, “Neon Moon”, “Red Dirt Road”, “Believe” , “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” just to name a few is working another passion… The two-time GRAMMY winner has also been tinkering in his storied Barn. Searching for new places and outlets has contributed to Dunn’s exploring his creativity in other ways, specifically, through his pursuit of photography.

“These days I get almost as much satisfaction and enjoyment from photography as I do stepping on stage,” he says. “I really do! I’ve  kept a camera in my hand over the years and now I can almost pull off a decent picture.”
